Yanick Labrie

Economist

Yanick Labrie is an economist and public policy consultant. He is also a research associate at the Canadian Health Policy Institute in Toronto and a senior fellow at the Fraser Institute in Vancouver.

A specialist in health issues, he is frequently called upon to comment on economic news in the media on issues related to health care systems and pharmaceutical policies. He is the author of numerous studies on health care reform for various research centers, including the MEI and CIRANO. Several of his articles have been published in the Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Ottawa Citizen, the Montreal Gazette, La Presse and Le Devoir.

Over the past decade, he has been invited as a speaker at several major events in major cities across Canada. In 2014, he spoke at the 20th edition of the Conference of Montreal, organized by the International Economic Forum of the Americas, about lessons learned from European health systems.

He has testified before several parliamentary commissions and task forces and acted as an expert witness in a major trial before the British Columbia Supreme Court to reform the country’s health insurance laws. Yanick holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Université de Montréal.
